W A Hare & Son Ltd’s newly built house at Sandhill Farm, Brayton, Selby for Mr & Mrs D Campey was considered by the judges to be of the highest standard available in the industry and was chosen by the judges to represent the Yorkshire and Trent Region in the National Award, as Regional Winner in its category for New Homes.

The winning entry was built to resemble a barn conversion with rendered panels to imitate cart door openings and includes high ceilings, beams, an inglenook fireplace and an Aga cooker.

The property has been made future-proof to enable the owners to be able to continue living there well into old age. Features incorporated include a lift, extra wide doorways, an intercom and various automated systems including CCTV, underfloor heating, a multi-room music system, intelligent lighting and electrically operated curtains.

The new build has high quality bespoke joinery features such as an oak bar and galleried landing with central staircase, made in the Joinery Workshop at W A Hare.

The owners of the property stated that Hares are the “Perfect building Company” (Self Build and Design, May 2007).

Last year W A Hare & Son Ltd won the National Builder of the Year Award for the extension category up to 300K for a project at Askham Bryan near York, and are hoping to succeed again this time in the “New Build” category finals which take place later in the year in London.
